Department of Journalism and Mass Communication

Established in 2019, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at MES Arts and Science College offers a vibrant undergraduate programme, nurturing proficient media professionals. Activities like seminars, workshops, industrial visits, field extension programme and the 'CINEASTE' film festival provide practical learning experiences. Alumni excel in various media fields. 'CINEASTE' includes film screenings, competitions, and panel discussions, enhancing students' media understanding. The department publishes 'Shabdham' magazine and manages the MesJournos YouTube channel, Instagram page and Blog , exhibiting students work. Faculty assist in internships with media organizations, bridging theory with practice. This prepares graduates for the dynamic media landscape ahead.

To provide quality media education to the students of Journalism and mass communication and in order to build good human communication in the rapid changing society from traditional to digital. The department emphasis to sharpen content development skills for budding media professional.

MISSION

The mission of the Journalism Department is to provide excellence in education on fundamental concepts, values and skills in journalism. We also promote an understanding of ethical and legal implications of media and the importance of cultural and intellectual diversity, civic engagement and social responsibility in preparing students for leadership roles in journalism.
